Factory engine components with standalone control
The goal was to run a B58 on a standalone ECU in an E46 chassis. The factory pressure and temperature sensors, actuators and electronic boost control were retained. The system needed to bring those signals together with equipment power and the data presented to the driver.
How the system came together
| ECUMaster component | Role |
|---|---|
| EMU PRO-8 | B58 engine management |
| PMU-16 | Power distribution |
| ADU 7 | Driver display |
| Keypad | Access to system functions |
We designed and built a race harness for this configuration. Wiring and module settings were developed together so the ECU, power distribution, dash and driver controls could function as one system.
First start and calibration
The B58 was commissioned on EMU PRO-8 with the original engine hardware. After first start, we calibrated it and measured power at the wheels on the dyno.
